Plastic injection molding as a manufacturing process has been growing consistently. The resin used in the plastic injection molding process does have an impact on the quality of the final product. Which materials are you expected to use for the best product quality? That depends on what you are going to manufacture.

Let us explore a few of the materials that would assume a lot of essence and importance.

Nylon
Nylon as a material is used in the case of the stronger mechanical parts such as bushings, gears, and bearings. The material has been observed to be quite effective and efficient in the case of automotive applications. The plastic injection molding companies prefer it because of the lower production costs. It can absorb the water. It has been considered to be the perfect choice for the marine applications.

Acrylic
Acrylic can be a good choice for the transparent objects such as windows, view screens, and various lighting equipment. It has been a good choice as the alternative to glass. The tensile strength and the weather resistance are the other two parameters that you would find all the more exciting. It does not contain Bisphenol A (BPA) and thus can be quite food safe.

Polycarbonate (PC)
Next commonly used material in plastic injection molding is Polycarbonate (PC). It has been considered to be extremely durable. The ability to achieve a precise dimension control is what would make it stand apart from the rest. It can be quite stronger and quite durable. It has been used in the making of optically clear plastic parts.

Polyoxymethylene (POM)
It is an acetal resin that is used for making the mechanical and automotive parts. This is an engineering thermoplastic material and has been rated to be very strong, tough, and rigid. It has been used to manufacture gears, fasteners, knife handles, and ball bearings. It has been known have a high resistance towards solvents such as alcohols, gasoline, detergents and motor oils.

Polystyrene (PS)
In terms of the injection moulding, there are two different types of polystyrenes that find a common usage. They would include High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) and General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS). The material is used for the hard cases for toolboxes and bodies of power tools. It is both durable and tough in nature. It has also been known to be environment friendly.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
The ABS is a popular material used in the manufacture of the key caps on the mechanical keyboards. It belongs to the category of opaque thermoplastic polymer and an engineering grade plastic. It is extremely hard to crack. It has also been used in the manufacturing of phone adapters and socket plastic guards.

Those were just a few of the best materials that can be used for the plastic injection molding processes. The use of each of the materials depends on the type of the products that you are searching for the material. Apart from the most popular injection moulding materials and resins that we have outlined here, there are many others that are equally effective and efficient.
