Injection mold disassembly is also one of the essential tooling making process.
You maybe wondered that why the tool has to be disassembled since it has been assembled already. Following would be some brief answers for understand:
1) For new injection mold making, it will take times of mold debug before committing for production. Each debug, we will have to disassembly the tool and do the adjustment.
2) For an injection mold on production, there will be the issues that the mold broken. Then we would have to disassemble the mold and arrange modification.
3) For rapid tooling and quick-turn injection molding, the mold base and some of the tooling components are for common use. We would have to disassembly the tool after each molding production. So that the component could be shared with other tools.
In the video, it’s a pretty simple rapid tooling of a clear plastic cover. Our experienced master assembly the tooling components one by one: screws, cavity, core, ejection pin, ejection plates and etc. It’s much faster than assembly but still take about 20 minutes. We still accelerated the videos.
Mold assembly and un-assembly will happen all through the time. The speed of mold making is important. For rapid tooling and low volume production, the tool would have to be un-assembly without the mold base for stocking. When in a next injection molding production run, a mold base will be assembled again. It’s good for low volume production and on-demand manufacturing.
