It’s a medium-volume injection molding production of a plastic aerospace lighting tray.
After injection molding toolings approval, as well as some small-run productions, the customer from United Kingdom placed a medium-volume production order of 30,000 units to us.
The tooling is a 3-plates tool with pig gates at the top. It can help more balance material flowing and eliminate deformation.
The tooling is a 2-cavity mold. It means that there will be 2 parts produced at the same time. The part material is fire retardant PC+ABS, which is specified by our customers.
There are many clips of the part. We used manual inserts for de-molding. It’s a simplified tooling structure and saving the tooling cost. Anyway, if for medium volume production, we would suggest with lifters in the coming days, for better molding production efficiency. .
In each molding cycle, our worker is taking off the sprue, taking the part off, and then put the manual inserts back into the mold. We made 2 sets of manual inserts for saving the cycle time. So that the production could be more efficiency.
